Bethel St. Andrew's United Church is a Christian congregation with members from across West Carleton and area. We are situated on Jack Lougheed Way in Fitzroy Harbour.
We are a welcoming congregation and we invite all people to join us as we gather Sundays at 10am. Our Church is a beautiful, historic stone building, built in 1838.
Our Church is thriving with programs for Seniors, Adults, and Children. We are committed to bringing people together for spiritual uplifting and fellowship. Our programs include: United Church Women, Monday Stitchers, Men's Ministry, Lug-A-Mug Cafe, EarlyOn Children's Program, Sunday School, and special events.
Our Monday Stitchers group has done it again! We have been getting together the first and third Monday of each month at Bethel-St. Andrew’s United Church in Fitzroy Harbour for quite a few years now. We have about 17 gals who come out and quilt, knit, crochet and weave. Gwen Pennings, one of our stitchers was telling us about these cute Journal Covers that she has made and she brought a couple of them in to show us. That’s all it took…….now everyone wanted to make one! Gwen generously advised that she would do a workshop for us. She provided the fabric cutting instructions ahead of time so that we could do all of our preparations at home before the workshop. On Monday, November 4th13 gals brought sewing machines, power bars and extension cords along with our prepared fabric and we were off to the races. We were so excited it was like the first day of school. The hall in our Church is quite big and we all fit in quite nicely. The level of chatter in the hall was almost deafening as we started our project. Gwen, being a retired teacher, was excellent, giving us a few instructions at a time so that we wouldn’t forget what we were doing. Along the way we had a couple of gals who wanted to keep sewing even though Gwen had not completed all of the next steps but she was able to reel everyone back in. Another interesting thing happened. I was sewing and could hear someone saying “where are my pussycats”? This gal had lost some of her material but it was eventually found across the hall from where she was sewing. Almost everyone completed their Journal Covers and those that didn’t were able to take their project home to complete. We had a wonderful, productive afternoon full of laughter, sewing and fellowship. What more can a gal ask for?
