One: The glory of God is awesome and amazing!!
Two: We celebrate it today in our worship.

Prayer of Approach
Awesome and amazing God, you surround us with your presence and make our life worth living. You inspire us with ideas and make us curious about your world. You’ve given ancient scripture to us so we can wrestle with you and learn about you. Forgive us when we forget you or ignore you. Forgive us when we think we’re in charge. Help us to know what is yours and give us the strength to take care of it. Help us to be good stewards of this great earth. Be with us in our worship so we can give you all the glory. Amen.

Hymn VU#664 – What a friend we have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Christ the Saviour is our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do our friends despise, forsake us? Are we tempted to despair?
Jesus’ strength will shield our weakness, and we’ll find new courage there.

Hymn: VU#675 – Will your anchor hold

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife,
when the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
will your anchor drift or firm remain?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
fastened to the rock which cannot move,
grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!

It will surely hold in the straits of fear,
when the breakers roar and the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
not an angry wave shall our bark o’er-flow? (Refrain)

It will surely hold in the floods of death,
when the waters cold chill our latest breath;
on the rising tide it can never fail
while our hopes abide within the veil. (Refrain)

When our eyes behold, through the gathering night,
the city of gold, our the harbour bright?
We shall anchor fast by the heavenly shore,
with the storms all past for evermore? (Refrain)
