This Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent, is the first anniversary of closing our physical church. My sermon this week deals with this anniversary and makes the connection with Lent, a time of forty days and forty nights, a long time…sort of like the year 2020/21.
I hope you’ll have a chance to listen to it — you can do that either on our YouTube Channel, Bethel-St. Andrew’s United Church Fitzroy Harbour or by telephone at 613-963-0064.
Next week, March 21, we are pleased The Aldis Family will be leading an Online Interactive Service on Google Meet at 10 a.m. We’ll be sending out an email this week with all the details.
On Sunday, March 28, Palm Sunday, Rick and I are planning an outdoor service that consists of walking around the village, to follow in the footsteps Jesus took during Holy Week as he traveled from Bethany to the Jewish Temple for Passover.
On Friday, April 2, Good Friday, I’ll be participating in a combined service with Trinity-St. Andrew’s United Church in Renfrew. It will be broadcast on Facebook Live. More details to follow. Plans for Easter Sunday have not yet been finalized.
Coffee and Chat will be hosted by me on Zoom at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Here’s the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82387764448?pwd=WXRvZVNNZ2FoRUpxdUtuMGg4VWFIUT09.
What a blast of warm air we’ve been getting!! To not wear a heavy coat is heavenly and most of our snow is gone. How changeable are our seasons! In March, we watch for the arrival of the otters and the eagles. The otters catch fish and the eagles eat them — it’s quite a show. I’ll let you know if we have any sightings.
As we prepare for Holy Week, I hope your faith is guiding and strengthening you.
In the love and friendship of Christ,
Rev. Dr. Christine Johnson
