Upcoming Worship

Nov. 11 – Remembrance Sunday includes a ceremony to acknowledge and honour our veterans. Jorgen Jensen and Peter Lougheed will be sharing excerpts from letters and a diary that recount some of the experiences of soldiers in both the world wars. Rev. Dr. Christine Johnson and Rick Leben are the worship leaders. A Veteran’s Brunch follows the service. Contributions towards the lunch will be going to Special Olympics.

Nov. 17 – Phil Aldis and Rick Leben lead the service.

Nov. 24 – Reign of Christ Sunday led by Rev. Dr. Christine Johnson with help from the Monday Stitchers as we explore the Theology of Knitting. Rick Leben provides music.

Dec. 1 – Our first Sunday in Advent introduces our advent theme, “The Gift.” We will also celebrate the sacrament of communion.

Community Carol Sing On Sunday, Dec. 1, our church is hosting the Community Carol Sing at 7 p.m., with participation from all three churches in Fitzroy Harbour. A fun night of singing, meeting our neighbours and joining together for some goodies following the service!! Please invite friends and neighbours as we sing our way into Advent and Christmas.
Men’s Ministry Breakfast Meeting Join us on Saturday, November 23rd 9:30 am at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Woodlawn beginning with coffee and fellowship. Vace Kurt will present
Part 2 of his Budapest to Amsterdam Cruise by Riverboat : From the city of Mainz, Germany to Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
All men of the Community are welcome.

Christmas Bazaar Our Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm. A lunch of Soup, Sandwiches, squares, coffee and tea will be served from 11:30 am to 1 pm for $8.00. Donations for the bake sale table can be dropped off on Friday November 22, and will be greatly appreciated.

Session Meeting The Session meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 28 prior to the Official Board Meeting that takes place at 7:30 p.m. If any member has an item for the agenda, please contact Rev. Dr. Christine Johnson.

Church Pageant Our Christmas Pageant is planned for Sunday, December 22 at 10 a.m. and the Christmas Eve Service takes place at 4 p.m.

Veteran’s Brunch Veteran’s Brunch takes place on Sunday, Nov. 10 following worship. The Stewards are providing and serving the food as we celebrate and honour the Veterans that live among us. Any brunch contributions will go to Special Olympics. The worship service will include an Act of Remembrance and readings from the World War I letters of William Kedey and the World War II diary of Roxie MacHardy, the wife of James MacHardy. Peter Lougheed and Jorgen Jensen will be our readers, with other participation from our congregation and community. Rick Leben and Walter McIlquham will also be performing the Canadian version of “And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.” Please invite neighbours and anyone who might be interested in this special Remembrance Day service and Veteran’s Brunch.

Ecumenical Consultation we will have an Ecumenical Consultation on Emergency Needs Thursday November 28, 7 pm at Bethel St. Andrew’s United Church. All are invited to share their experiences of recent disasters so that we can be better prepared in the future. This meeting is organized by the Ecumenical Disaster Planning Committee, made up of members from the three Churches in Fitzroy Harbour.
